We are collaborating with JRuby project. Charles Nutter and Thomas Enebo
of JRuby have been instrumental in crafting the SoC idea. Note that they are
a part of the Google SoC too.
Various members of the JRuby team are interested in mentoring students in
these potential projects among others:
- enhancing JIT bytecode generation
- building a new internal object representation
- Fiddle library atop either Ruby FFI (in Ruby) or jnr-ffi (in Java).
- Native date implementation to match 1.9.3
- Native pathname implementation to match 1.9.3
- Ripper support in parser

JRuby team will work with you to come up with a project plan if you're
We're planning to run the SoC from June to July -- but we're flexible, since
different Universities have different summer vacation schedules.
We have capacity for three students. Each student will earn INR 15,000/mo
for 2 months. Let us know whether you're interested. We can talk!
